Chefs

We have a host of visiting and local chefs planned for 2019 but we are still in the middle of booking everyone. We will be adding lots more chefs as and when they are confirmed, so please keep checking back. There will be three cookery stages with different demonstrations going on all weekend.

All the chefs are free to watch and no bookings are neccessary - just roll up and take a seat.

Professional Chefs Stage

Candice Brown

Saturday 13th July

We are excited to welcome Candice Brown to the festival. Candice won the 2016 The Great British Bake Off and will be taking to the stage to demonstrate live baking and cooking demonstrations.

Since her GBBO victory, she has been extremely busy with a diverse range of projects and wrote her first book "Comfort" which was released in 2017. The recipes are easy to make and "no nonsense" for a variety of occassions, including baking with kids, afternoon tea, savoury bakes and "fancier" recipes for the weekend.

Rosemary Shrager

We are delighted to welcome the fabulous Rosemary Shrager to the 2019 festival. Rosemary endeared herself to the nation when she took part in I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, where she proved she could cook just about anything, anywhere. She regularly appears on popular television series the Real Marigold Hotel and in 2017 was a much loved judge on The Big Family Cooking showdown.

Not only is Rosemary an outstanding chef, she also brings her own brand of humour and entertainment to the stage. You can be sure of plenty of laughs along with fabulous cooking

Justin Skinner & Abi De'Ats

Justin is Senior Chef De Partie and is one of the UK's most promising young talents. He is a passionate advocate of the 'field to fork' philosophy and loves to bring a contemporary slant to old favourites using modern techniques.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Abi is an up and coming talent in the catering and hospitality field and was a finalist in the 2019 Suffolk Food and Drink Awards as Young Chef of the Year.

Justin and Abi will be demonstrating together and we are looking forward to seeing what this young pair will be cooking for us

John Lawson

FOOD by John Lawson, Leigh on Sea

Westminster trained John Lawson started his career at La Manior Aux Quat Saisons. His training with Raymond Blanc saw him go on to work in two and three Michelin star restaurants in France, UK, USA and Australia. John has also been a private chef for the Sultan of Oman.

In May 2015, John suffered a life changing injury which led him to change not only his lifestyle but the way he cooks food. In June 2017 John opened his restaurant in Leigh on Sea - FOOD by John Lawson; a restaurant that represents real food, locally sourced and focused on health and wellbeing.

At the helm of South Woodford's Grand Trunk Road, and with more than 28 years of knowledge and experience, Chef Dayashankamr Sharma's work has helped to establish the image of a range of high-profile names and outlets, while his time at India's Taj Hotel saw him design and complete a host of events and state banquets for foreign Presidents, Dignitaries and Luminaries.

Chef Sharma has an impeccable reputation and has become recognised for pairing time-honoured tradition with contemporary ideas and stylings.

Grand Trunk Road won Best Asian Restaurant of the Year at the Asian Curry Awards 2018.

Tony learned his trade at London's Smithfield Market 35 years ago and he can't imagine doing anything else. He sources the finest meat in the land and supplies some of the finest chefs in the country.

Tony will be cooking up some fabulous meat feasts and giving you tips for your own BBQ cooking at home

Marc Humm

Marc is born and bred in Essex and has worked for acclaimed chefs such as Heston Blumenthal and Marcus Wareing. He has stepped away from Michelin star food to spend more time with his wife and children but he still spends the odd day in top kitchens to keep himself in the game.

Jason Thomas Ring

Jason has worked in the catring industry for over 20 years training under Mark Hix and Des Macdonald at the Ivy Restaurant. He is now company executive development chef for the blue chip catering company Vacherin.

Jason loves cooking on the BBQ and his demonstrations are great fun to watch

Andi Walker

Essex Chef of the Year

Andi is the reigning Essex Chef of the Year and was a semi finalist on MasterChef the Professionals in 2015. His food showcases a mix of classic and modern cooking techniques with stylish presentation and complex in flavour.

What Andi cooks on the BBq will be a real treat and this is one demonstration not to be missed!
